I remember the type of leader I was 20 years ago, mostly focused on achieving targets and managing tasks efficiently. Back then results were more important than people. And yet, when I was very successful I hit a ceiling. I found that neither me nor my team were as engaged, productive as we could be and a random thought about my leadership style crossed my mind swiftly. However it was this self awareness that changed everything for me (and my teams).
I found that if I wanted to lead others effectively I needed to learn to lead myself exceptionally. This is when I started to seek out mentors that could guide me and I started to invest in leadership coaching for myself, which opened new avenues for growth and innovation within myself.
As a result, my leadership style completely transformed, becoming more inclusive and effective, fostering a team environment that promoted engagement and productivity regardless of the outward circumstances.
